Giveaway time!

// May 12th, 2009 // Love, Strange Nervous Laughter

I’ve never done a giveaway on my blog before, but then I’ve never had a book published in the USA before, so this is obviously a day for firsts!

If you’d like to win a copy of the very cool, very hardcover Strange Nervous Laughter US edition, leave me a comment below… something about love, methinks.

The most creative comment (as judged by an impartial third party!) will win a copy of the book.

  1. From strange, nervous laughter, we grow into people who have a higher capacity to open our hearts, minds and souls to others. That is true love.

    Egg heart in a pan.
    Playful fried cover image.
    Strange nervous laughter.

It’s hard to write a creative post about a book I haven’t read yet, so I went with a haiku. Hopefully it’s enough to win a copy? Have you thought about doing a giveaway on librarything.com, too? Just a thought. Congrats again on your US release! Andrea

love for me is really not the grand gestures but rather the little, idiosyncratic things that only someone who truly loves you will know and act on.

I’m going to be without my love for a few months this summer.
I’d love a good book about love to read while we’re apart.
    Thanks for sharing.

I think most of what I’ve come to believe about the way love should be, comes from music.
Three of my favourites at the moment:
Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson-… Just so easy when the whole world fits inside of your arms…
Teardrop by Newton Faulkner-…Love is a verb, love is a doing word…
Rainy Day by Coldplay-…Oh rainy day come round, sometimes I just want it to slow down…I love it when you come over to my house…
They make me feel warm and mushy inside and help me to believe in love.

    Love…
We as humankind could spend our entire lives discussing this very topic and still not be finished. Love is patient, kind, believes the best of each person… Love does so many things to the receiver. It is said somewhere that a woman in love blossoms like a flower. That great love makes the recipient a better person in the end. As a christian woman I believe wholeheartedly in love. Love is our very purpose on earth. What are we if we do not have love?

  9. Jennifer Withers says:

The earth moves beneath me, shifting – but it is only his hands on me.
The sky is painted with all the colours visible to the naked eye – it is his smile turned my way.
Sunlight is streaming through my windows – it is his laughter ringing in my ears.
Sweet melodies caress my ear – it is his voice as he speaks curled around me.
The breeze stirs my hair and lifts my heart – he brushes my face tenderly with his fingertips, bringing to light the glinting edges of my heart.

Just something I wrote when I first started dating the man who is now my husband.

I remember the very first time, the coridor was chilly a balcony overlooking the joburg skyline, swallows practicing for their oversees flight. Then i walked further and was engulfed by the warmth inside, sunlight filtering through dust in wide slants eluminating polished wood panels and floors. and wall to wall sumptuous colours. The smell completly overpowered me and my entire body was filled by it. the smell of polish wood and old books… I stood in the middle of the room in complete aww knowing that i was not only in love – I was home!
